November 7th, 2007. Mayor Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Quinn joined Brooklyn Navy Yard officials to announce the creation of a Historical Center at The Navy Yard. The new center will be a restoration of BNY Building 92 along Flushing Avenue. Building 92 was originally designed by US Capitol Architect Thomas U. Walter The project also includes the addition of a new 25,000 sq ft building to house the Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment. The City will supply $10 million to create the center, whose total cost of construction is estimated at $15 million, the additional $5 million will come from private investors.
